> How much does it cost to build a handcrafted log home? Typically, hand crafted log packages run about $35-$50/ sq ft, depending upon the size and complexity of the design. Cost to finish out the home varies by location.
> How long does it take to stack the logs for one of your homes? Most of our milled log homes log walls can be stacked in 2-3 days. A supervisor will be on site to make sure your log walls are stacked correctly. The customer must provide for a crane and additional carpenters/framers to assist our supervisor during reassembly. Number of men can vary depending on the design and complexity of the home.
> Does it take any special skills to stack the logs? One of the services we provide our customers is an on-site representative from Country Living Log Homes when you are ready to erect your logs. We provide this service free of charge. Therefore, the other people present for the work need not be skilled at stacking logs. Skilled workers may be needed after the log walls are erected depending on the design and complexity of your home.
> Can I build one of your homes myself, or do I need a contractor? Many people build their own log homes. It is, however, a job that requires several skills to complete successfully. If you would feel comfortable building your own conventionally framed home, then you could be just as comfortable building your own log home. If you are in doubt, it is best to have a professional build your home. Depending on building codes/permit requirements in your location, you may be able to do some of the work yourself and sub-contract other work that you are not capable of doing.
